More excreting news (because I’m sure you’re interested).
Falco is still using his potty on and off. Last week he used it once or twice a day for a few days and then seemed to lose interest. Today he had more successes. In fact, he wore the same diaper from 10:30 a.m. until bedtime because he peed on the potty twice during that time. Pretty amazing! I don’t think I would really say we’re potty training though because he doesn’t tell me when he needs to go and can’t pull his pants on/off by himself, which our doctor says is key. I definitely want to encourage any desire to put his waste where it belongs though, and I think this is good progress.
I do have to say, I’m not someone who is eager for my kid to be out of diapers. First of all, his diapers are CUTE! I have tons of customs that I will be sad to see go. The flip side is that I get to buy fancy trainers and then move on to adorable underwear, so I’m sure that will soften the blow. The other thing is that taking a kid out of the house and being on constant accident alert doesn’t sound that fun to me. Maybe he will still wear diapers when we go out until he is pretty accident proof? I don’t know how all that works.
Has anyone else potty trained a kid at a young age (18-ish months)? If so, how did it go? Any tips?

Hi Andi – don’t stress and don’t fret. My son is 14 years old now and when I think of how I wanted him to walk … wanted him to talk …. wanted him to wee and poo in the loo ….. well, it actually just all happens. I agree with you that kids look cute in nappies (diapers). Just encourage him and let him do it in his own time. He will ….. I promise!
