Putting his opposable thumb to use.
Falco ate with a spoon by himself for the first time last night! He has been trying but couldn’t quite get it, so we gave him pudding, which is easy to keep on the spoon (and sweet and yummy enough to keep him motivated). He did really well!
My baby is turning into a kid.
It’s hard to call Falco a baby these days. He’s walking–make that running– everywhere, doing his best to talk, and doing more advanced play. He still does more than his share of destruction, but he has recently started stacking toys, pretending to eat and feed others his pretend food, putting his doll to bed and saying goodnight to it, and other seemingly very mature activities. He still can’t manage to color without eating the crayons, but we’re working on that. He tries to say a lot of words (although Matt and I are usually the only ones who know what he is saying) including truck, cheese, hi, bye, whoa, bus, sock, shoe, cat, dog, and banana. He also makes sounds for dog, firetruck, lion, cow, and sometimes mouse. He LOVES his books and wants them read to him all day long.
He has almost all his first teeth, which is such a relief for all of use since he had such a hard time with teething. He has one bottom canine that hasn’t cut through yet and then his second year molars. He can eat pretty much anything now that he can chew properly, but he still likes most of his food cut into small bites. He kicked the bottle on his own a couple of weeks ago. He was only getting a bottle of milk before bed, and for a few days he suddenly wasn’t that interested in drinking. I just stopped offering it, and he didn’t seem to notice. Now he only drinks from straw cups.
We started a music class on Mondays, and he runs around the whole time while the other kids stay close to their moms. He is very outgoing and happy and friendly. People still comment pretty much every time we go out about how happy he is and how much he smiles. When we leave a place, he makes a big exit, waving and shouting “bye” to everyone he sees.
He is an incredibly cute kid, and I feel very lucky and fulfilled to be staying home with him. He’s turning into such a fun little member of our family!
