Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Turkey Day, everyone. This is a weird Thanksgiving for me because it’s my first ever when I’m not cooking anything at all. As I mentioned in my last post, we’re going to a friend’s family’s house for dinner. I offered to bring something, but my offer was declined. We’ll take some wine or beer so as to not show up empty handed, but I really would have been happy to cook something. It just doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving without cooking, but maybe when we get to their house and start eating I will get into the holiday spirit.
Traditionally, Matt and I put up our Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving, so hopefully we will get to do that tomorrow unless I go into labor tonight. It’s weird that even the smallest plans are tentative for now because this baby could really decide to come at any moment. It will be nice to get our decorations up before his arrival though so that he can come home to a Christmas tree. I’m sure he’ll be way into it, as long as we hold him 12 inches away from it so that he can barely make it out in black and white with his underdeveloped vision.
I’m glad I didn’t buy him a newborn Thanksgiving outfit because that would have been a waste. It was tempting because I saw a lot of cute things, but he clearly didn’t need an outfit for today. After he is born, we’ll go get him some cute Christmas outfits. I thought it would be fun to shop with him for those instead of getting them ahead of time. We’ll also take him to the fabric store to choose a fabric for his stocking. If you’ll remember, I made stockings for the rest of the family and I’m looking forward to making one for the baby, too. We’ll have to see what his personality is like to figure out what kind of fabric suits him.
I’m going to get myself ready in preparation for our upcoming feast. Hopefully my next post will be about how labor has started!
